Dr. Julio E. Sabater, Jr., PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist in Rhode Island who enjoys his work with children, adolescents, families, and adults from varied populations. His mission to serve uniquely diverse individuals with compassion and commitment predates the opening of SabaterLAB. Dr. Sabater brings more than 18 years of combined professional experience in clinical, hospital, school, community, and faith-based settings - delivering prevention, consultation, assessment, and treatment services.
In terms of formal training, Dr. Sabater completed his APA-Accredited PhD in Combined School/Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University. Dr. Sabater completed his APA-Accredited Predoctoral Internship in Clinical Psychology with specialized training in trauma treatment, and early childhood mental health consultation at Community Healthlink (CHL) Youth and Family Services/UMASS. The internship also provided Dr. Sabater with intensive training in comprehensive psychological assessment, which included neuro-Psychological testing. Dr. Sabater completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology, also at CHL.
Along with his engaging personality, Dr. Sabater’s careful integration of ecological models/system theories and cognitive behavioral interventions encourage clients to experience treatment as a process of mutual collaboration; a shared journey.
Ivelisse Sabater, BA is an outstanding educator with diversified training and extensive experience working in the public sector with children and adolescents from underserved populations. An excelling learner, Mrs. Sabater's innate ability in grant writing has made her an expert in the field, and a well-respected team leader in her school. As a result of her impeccable leadership, she was one of the recipients of the XQ School Design Preparation Camp Grant of $25,000 through her school district, and one of the competitors for XQ+RI grant through the State of RI. Along with her XQ team, their effort and strategic planning also won their school the Momentum Award of $20,000.
Mrs. Sabater completed both a BA in Modern Languages, as well as graduate coursework in the Masters Program for English Language Learners, Multicultural, and Special Education, at Rhode Island College. Currently, Mrs. Sabater is working on her M.S. in Couples and Family Counseling with Specialization in Trauma and Crisis at Walden University.
